The interview with Simone Puksic by Red Hat. One year after the launch of the recovery plan at European level, which led to the PNRR in Italy, 01net carries out an investigation, based on a series of interviews with the main companies operating in Italy in the ICT on their strategy for digitalisation of the

We talk with them about four key themes of digital transformation: resilience, cybersecurity, cloud, environmental and social sustainability and the answers allow you to build the ICT reality participation map for the country’s growth in the digital sense.

And there is one more theme, the fifth: in a spirit of consultation, we ask that Italian entrepreneurs be given an extra idea, capable of producing immediate value in terms of efficiency and competitiveness.

For Red Hat, Simone Puksic, Head of Sales Solution Specialist & Institutional Relations, responded.

A year after the Recovery Plan, where are we with the real transformation of the country: with what solutions, skills and services do you participate in the missions of the PNRR involving digital?

The PNRR is now starting to show its concrete effects. On the digital front, as is well known, there are considerable resources that have the objective of accelerating the path that has been underway for some years now. SPID, ANPR, PagoPA, IO are some of the projects that have laid the… technological and cultural foundations in recent years for what will be the digital state of the future. Red Hat, with its platform, plays a major role in the main initiatives related to these projects. Our constant commitment to supporting customers and partners over the years sees us sitting at the most important work tables that address issues such as PA cloud or digital transformation in the country. We are looking with great interest, for example, at the project to establish the National Strategic Pole, which has the potential to radically change the use of digital services evolved to the citizen and to the public administration in general, as well as a series of collateral initiatives that certainly

2021 was the year in which the theme of cybersecurity landed in all businesses. What concrete prospects did you give for 2022?

Security is an increasingly popular theme for public and private companies, as the risk of cyber attacks today has grown exponentially. In addition, the evolution towards cloud-native architectures makes it essential to structure a secure model at all levels to protect data, services and applications. Red Hat, thanks to recent acquisitions and evolutions dictated by open source communities, offers a complete technological stack, able to minimize risks, intercepting potential risky situations in a preventive way.

The key component of digital transformation is the cloud. What are the choices that Italian companies will have to make in 2022?

Red Hat was born in the open source community and is now established as a global company. Our positioning leads us firmly to a hybrid & multicloud paradigm, which guarantees speed, scalability, flexibility and above all no lock-in. This should be the way for every organization, with the value of the natural attitude of trusted advisor that the company today expresses.

After the Cop26 it was understood that sustainability, both environmental and social, now affects not only all countries but also all companies. What is your strategy on these issues?

Offering technological solutions that allow the achievement of computational efficiency and therefore its energy efficiency, is a mission entirely aligned with our strategy and our portfolio products.

Thanks to Red Hat Openshift, our customers can consolidate workloads by generating savings at CPU and Server level, thus undertaking virtuous paths towards the sustainability of their data centers and/or towards a growing computational consumption at the core

Thanks to the “hybrid cloud” and the mobility of workloads, it is possible to contribute to the efficiency of energy consumption whenever it is really necessary, making full use of the scalability capabilities of cloud providers.

This can also be achieved thanks to serverless and native cloud architectures, through which modern modular and function applications, only activate when that specific functionality/module is needed, thus making efficient not only infrastructure but the same.

Red Hat’s ICT idea of 2022

If you were to offer a single investment (product, solution, methodology) to an Italian company, a choice that could produce an immediate benefit in terms of efficiency and competitiveness, what would your advice be about?

Probably training: in Red Hat we are deeply convinced that there is no product, solution or methodology that does not require an investment in training and reskilling of people. Red Hat offers a range of tools and processes that accompany the customer in the joint development of both technological and method skills and know-how.

For us at Red Hat training is a fundamental element, which we take care of to the smallest detail, without limiting ourselves to our solutions, but rather trying to create deep skills, which become both personal and corporate heritage and can be used even outside our domain.
