Two new professional full frame cameras, one SLR and the other mirrorless, are coming in respectively from the two Japanese manufacturers: the Nikon D6 and the Canon EOS R5.

For both have not yet been officially communicated prices and availability dates in Italy, but the first to arrive on the market should be the Nikon.

Let’s start with this.

The Nikon D6 is the new flagship SLR, full frame, of the company. Its autofocus system is supported by a dedicated processor and relies on 105 AF points, all cross-checked, manually selectable and redesigned compared to those of the Nikon D5 (of which the D6 takes the place), for a coverage of the subject 1.6 times more

All AF points of the new 37K Multi-CAM module adopted by the Nikon D6 are capable of operating up to -4 EV of light intensity, while the central point, thanks to the sensitivity of -4,5 EV, manages to focus the subject even almost in the absence of light

The Nikon D6 also offers 17 AF points combinations (Area AF a group), designed to return the best results of focusing both with static subjects, and in the most complex sports photography situations.

As for the camera’s connection options, they cover both wired and wireless data transfer: 1000Base-T LAN, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Thanks to the possibility to set filters during data transfer, workflows are also more flexible and simplified.

The Nikon D6 sensor is a full-format FX CMOS (35.9 mm x 23.9 mm) 20.8MP and the image processing processor is the Expeed 6. The shooting speed in sequence reaches 14fps with AF/AE tracking or 10,5fps with AE tracking in silent photography mode.

In the video shooting phase, the Nikon D6 can record 4K Ultra HD resolution (3.840×2,160 pixels; 30p/25p/24p), Full HD (1.920×1.080 pixels; 60p/50p/30p/25p

More information about the Nikon D6 is available on the Nital website.
