The interview with Nicola Basso, by Horsa Group

One year after the launch of the recovery plan at European level, which led to the PNRR in Italy, 01net carries out an investigation, based on a series of interviews with the main companies operating in Italy in the ICT on their strategy for digitalisation of the

We talk with them about four key themes of digital transformation: resilience, cybersecurity, cloud, environmental and social sustainability and the answers allow you to build the ICT reality participation map for the country’s growth in the digital sense.

And there is one more theme, the fifth: in a spirit of consultation, we ask that Italian entrepreneurs be given an extra idea, capable of producing immediate value in terms of efficiency and competitiveness.

For Horsa Group, the CEO, Nicola Basso, responded.

A year after the Recovery Plan, where are we with the real transformation of the country: with what solutions, skills and services do you participate in the missions of the PNRR involving digital?

Compared to the missions that the PNRR has identified Horsa Group is mainly present in the projects of digitization of the production system, with particular reference therefore to the manufacturing sector. Thanks to our expertise and solutions that we can integrate, we enable Industry 4.0 and MES (Mnaufactory Execution System) projects for the transformation and automation of factories and production lines, with the aim of making them more interconnected and efficient, In more complex projects, our intervention then extends to the scope of data analysis, where we also use artificial intelligence, for a better understanding and optimization of the production system.

Our support for the digitisation of a company then extends to the scope of ERP and infrastructure.

2021 was the year in which the theme of cybersecurity landed in all businesses. What concrete prospects did you give for 2022?

Our prediction is to further develop our cybersecurity offer and expand our business volume in this area. Precisely because we believe that cybersecurity, today more than ever, is a topic that companies will not be able to ignore, we are strengthening our offer to give customers the opportunity to access the mix of solutions that responds more to their needs. Our value proposition in cybersecurity develops mainly along two lines: a technology, with specific detection solutions, with also activities of ethical hacking, and a training, that is a series of activities, initiatives and methodologies to create all the

The key component of digital transformation is the cloud. What are the choices that Italian companies will have to make in 2022?

The cloud is a great opportunity for companies, as well as crucial to enable the digital transformation that companies need. Without the cloud, the conditions of agility and dynamism would not be created for a company that wants to remain competitive on the market, introducing technological innovation within it. As with all choices, however, it is necessary to understand when and how to use it. And if the hybrid model is recently the most adopted one, because it allows to obtain the benefits deriving both from a public cloud and those of a private infrastructure, a correct choice cannot be without a careful analysis of the specific needs of a company. Only in this way can we make choices, even in the long term, that bring real benefit. To this must be added the importance of relying on specialized skills, at technical and strategic level thanks to which to know how to identify the most convenient workloads to migrate, manage contracts with the different providers, know how to orchestrate increasingly complex It environments,

After the Cop26 it was understood that sustainability, both environmental and social, now affects not only all countries but also all companies. What is your strategy on these issues?

Horsa Group is particularly attentive and sensitive to these issues: we have many ESG initiatives in place, but one of the commitments for next year is to implement new ones and we are working to define a roadmap of activities for the different areas: sustainability,

The environmental issue is very important to us. However, since we do not have, as a system integrator, \puri \\’ production processes, the greatest impact we can operate on the topic of corporate sustainability concerns customers. Let me explain: we pay close attention to the digitisation and dematerialization of processes in our customers’ companies, in order to reduce their environmental impact. In this sense we enter into our customers’ sustainability projects by supporting and supporting their digital transformation. One example: in the logistics field, the digitalization of the processes involves a considerable saving of paper and the optimization of the transports a fuel saving, therefore a less environmental impact.

The area on which we have always been more attentive and active is that of people. Our company culture provides a great deal of attention to human capital and the protection of the well-being of our employees: we promote, for example, courses of mindfulness or management of stress-related risks, or activities to increase the sense of belonging and satisfaction of individuals, even at the I think of an initiative of which I am very proud and which was welcomed with great enthusiasm in the company: in recent months, we have proposed to our employees the participation in a creative writing course that has led then to the selection of a series of stories, twenty-one, that they The quality of the stories was so valuable that we decided to make a book:

Our ESG strategy is then completed with governance: we are committed to securing and tidying internal processes and procedures to support the guarantee of ethical behavior, which is already at the basis of our DNA.

ICT idea of 2022

If you were to offer a single investment (product, solution, methodology) to an Italian company, a choice that could produce an immediate benefit in terms of efficiency and competitiveness, what would your advice be about?

The board would depend on the digital maturity level of the organisation. For a company today it is essential to be able to count on an ERP able to connect and secure the whole core part of the company: production, administrative and logistics. For those who do not have it, this type of investment must be a priority if we are to achieve real benefits in terms of efficiency and competitiveness.

For the most structured companies, which already have an ERP, the suggestion is to invest in collaboration tools and support to smart working, fundamental to emit the workforce able to work agilely and remotely. Without it, the risk is that you do not have a company capable of working fully.

To enable these tools, you need to invest in the cloud to ensure the agility of the infrastructure.

Another important area of investment is in our way of seeing that of analytics: today strategic decisions are and must be increasingly data-driven, to avoid losing the great value that all companies have in their data.
