One of the latest updates released for Google Workspace has introduced new options to offer a more personalised experience to users who start (or join) a Google Meet meeting from meet.google.com.

When you click on New Meeting, users will now see three options to choose from. The first is Create a meeting to start at a later date: this generates the membership information for a new meeting and you can save them and then use them later.

The second is Start a meeting now: this allows you to attend a meeting with just one click, without going first to the meeting greenroom. Once in the meeting, you can add other people or copy the membership information to share. Google highlights that the camera and microphone will turn on automatically if you select this option and that you can turn them off once you enter the meeting.

Finally, the third option is Plan in Google Calendar: this leads to Calendar in a new tab to create an event with the details of the automatically compiled Google Meet meeting.

There are no special controls or configurations for this function, for administrators or end users. New features are available to Google Workspace Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus customers, as well as to G Suite Basic, Business, Education, Enterprise customers

New Year’s updates have also introduced another new feature in Google Workspace.

Google Workspace customers resident in Germany and Italy can now subscribe to Google Voice.

These companies, as well as international customers with Google Voice Premier edition, can now assign and port numbers with the country codes of Germany (+49) and Italy (+39), for their users.
