Fastweb presented the financial results of the third quarter of 2020: it is the 29th consecutive in which telco makes growth of customers, revenues and margins.

In the first nine months of the year Fastweb reaches 2,704,000 customers, an increase of 4% compared to 30 September 2019 with revenues that amounted to 1,674 million euros, (+6% compared to the corresponding period last year) and EBITDA-aL to The growth of mobile continues to double in size: 1,889,000 SIMs active in the third quarter, up 14% compared to the same period of 2019.

As of September 30, the growth trend in the consumer segment is confirmed, with the acquisition of 94 thousand new customers of broadband access services.

Fastweb’s commitment to digitalization of the country with technological and infrastructural investments that amounted to 410 million euros continues in the third quarter, an amount equal to 25% of revenues that is confirmed constant despite the extension of the health emergency. Fastweb’s participation in the FiberCop co-investment project together with TIM and KKR, guarantees the company a leading role in the national deployment project of an FTTH network that will cover 76% of black and grey areas At the same time, the 5G mobile and Fixed Wireless Access networks roll out at national level with the launch of the fifth generation services planned by the end of the year.

In the third quarter Fastweb further consolidates its role as a leader in terms of penetration of ultra-wide bandwidth connectivity services. At 30 September 2020, customers who have subscribed ultra fast connections are 1,914,000, an 18% increase compared to the same period last year, a trend in continuous growth supported by strong demand from Italian families for ultra-performing fixed connections during the months of the season. Approximately 71% of Fastweb’s customer base (+9 p.p. compared to the first nine months of 2019), is equipped with an ultra-wide bandwidth connection with download speeds up to 1 Gb/s.

Very satisfactory in the period the performances of the Business Unit Enterprise, with revenues that are attested to 661 million euros (+5% regarding last year). Fastweb thus consolidates its position as the first alternative operator in the segment of large public and private customers with a market share in terms of revenues of 30%.

The strong growth of the wholesale segment is confirmed with revenues of 169 million euros, +22% compared to the first nine months of 2019, and a number of UBB lines provided to third parties that in a year has increased by 34%.

The trend in the mobile segment is also very positive with a growth rate that continues to be double-digit. As of September 30, the active SIMs are 1,889,000, up 14%, equal to an increase of 226 thousand SIM, compared to the first nine months of 2019 (+59 thousand SIM only in the last quarter).

Fastweb, important events after the quarter ended

On 1 October Fastweb announced the acquisition of 70% of the capital of the company specializing in 7Layers IT security services. In line with the recent acquisition of Cutaway, a company specializing in Cloud services, the transaction concluded with 7Layers is part of the process of strengthening the offer dedicated to the enterprise market, in which alongside the provision of infrastructure for ultra-band connectivity

It is also early October the innovative agreement signed between Fastweb and the National Trade Union Organizations of the telecommunications sector that establishes the overcoming of traditional organisational models of work.
