Good news for Amazon: a judge has stopped Microsoft’s assignment of the American Defense mega-sent.
Remember that the cloud management contract, called Jedi, is worth the astronomical figure of 10 billion dollars in 10 years.
The decision was taken by Judge Patricia Campbell-Smith, who also ordered Amazon to deposit $42 million as costs, where Jeff Bezos’ company lost the case.
Amazon has not yet commented on the judgment, but in the appeal it refers to numerous errors of assessment and (above all) to a clear political interference that have decisively influenced the decision of the Defense to entrust Microsoft the Jedi order.
In fact, it is well known that between Jeff Bezos and Donald Trump is not running at all good blood, and many rumors about a spite of the American President at the CEO of Amazon have appeared since the news of the assignment of the ten-year contract
Microsoft was disappointed by the delay caused by this sentence, but trusted in the Department of Defense. In addition, Seattle’s company believes that it is on the side of reason, and that the facts will emerge in their clarity during the trial.
It is only the first chapter of a legal war that, given the scale of the stakes, will be fought without exclusion of blows.
Nobody gives up a light heart at 10 billion dollars; also in the background (but not too much) there are deep enmities among the protagonists of this intricate story.
Without forgetting a key date: November 3, 2020, the date on which the new President of the United States will be elected. It is difficult to imagine if an end has been reached by then, but if not the result of the election ballots could have a decisive weight on the outcome of the case.
